UEFA Champions League

Sport Sport 3

The Champions League is UEFA’s premier annual club football competition, bringing together leading teams from Europe’s domestic leagues. Founded in 1955 as the European Champion Clubs’ Cup and renamed in 1992, it has evolved from a straight knockout tournament into a 36-team league phase followed by knockout rounds and a single-match final. Qualification is based largely on domestic league performance and UEFA association coefficients, with the competition representing the highest level of European club football. Its winner is crowned European club champion and also qualifies for other major UEFA and FIFA competitions.
